Position: Youth Care Counsellor
Expected Shifts : 4 on; 4 off rotation (12 hr shifts) 2 rotations of 11am-11pm and 2 rotations of 9am-9pm
Salary : $46,273
Program Information :
The Aurora Program is a program designed to meet the needs of youth struggling with Mental Health concerns in a group home setting. We offer a structured daily program with the goal of transitioning youth into a less intrusive environment. We are a contracted program through Alberta Child and Family Services. We provide an environment to help youth engage in positive family/peer relationships, community school programs. workshops to help gain independence skills and a home like environment that fosters trust and therapeutic relationships. .
Role and Responsibilities :The Youth Care Counsellor is responsible for client safety, day to day operations of the house, youth transports, meal planning and preparation, cleaning duties and overall supervision of the youth in the home. The Youth Care Counsellor is responsible for working as part of a team to ensure overall success of the youth and the program. The Youth Care Counsellor should have an understanding of basic counselling skills (ie. Informal Counselling) and Trauma based knowledge for an understanding of the youth that Aurora serves.
Must have:

Clear Child Welfare Check
Drivers Abstract
Valid Drivers License and Access to a Vehicle
2 Year Diploma or Degree in Related Field
Vehicle Insurance with $2 Million Liability

Mental Health Support Worker

Position: Mental Health Support worker, Expected Shifts: 12 hour day shifts on a 4 on 4 off rotation
Salary : $46,273
Program Information: The In Home Support program is a community based support program with a focus on meeting clients developmental needs. We offer a structured daily program in a residential setting with the goal of teaching the life skills that would be needed to increase the clients independence. We are a contracted program through Alberta Human Services .
Role and Responsibilities: The role of the Mental Health Support Worker is responsible for providing, in a team approach with other In-Home Support workers, care and supervision of adults in a support home environment. The position includes working variable hours and shifts. Within the role, support workers are expected to provide a safe, comfortable, nurturing environment with firm, consistent limits, assist the client to recognize their individuality and uniqueness; as well as to model appropriate behaviours and attitudes in any situation. They shall display appropriate feelings and maintain professional boundaries, and demonstrate sensitivity, creativity and initiative within the program, to promote growth, and adaptive learning experiences for the client to thrive.

Program: Youth Residential Detox and Stabilization Program
Position: Addictions Youth Care Counsellor
Expected Shifts: 4 on; 4 off rotation (12 hr shifts)
Salary: $46,273 Annually
Program Information: The Youth Residential Detox and Stabilization program is a dual-program facility. We offer services in a Voluntary capacity, as well as a Court Ordered confinement capacity (Protection of Children Abusing Drugs Act). We are a contracted program through Alberta Health Services Addictions and Mental Health and provide clients and their families with educational programming regarding Substance Use, Concurrent Disorders, and Gambling.
Role and Responsibilities: The Addictions Youth Care Counsellor is responsible for delivering services that provide youth with education and support on all levels of their daily routines. The Addictions Youth Care Counsellor facilitates up to 2 educational group sessions, as well as 2 recreational life skills activities daily. As a part of the YRDS team you will meet with clients on a one-on-one basis as well as in group settings. You will develop specific programming plans that meet the clients current prevalent needs, and will work with the AHS Addictions and Mental Health team to help create referrals for the clients ongoing treatment plan. The YRDS program is Concurrent Capable.
Must have

  • Degree or 2 Year Diploma in Addictions, Child and Youth Care, or related human services field.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License
  • Drivers Abstract
  • Clear Criminal Records Check
  • Clear Children’s Service Intervention Record Check
  • Vehicle Insurance stating $2 million liability and Access to a Vehicle

Hiring Assets

  • Standard First-Aid certification, including CPR.
  • Suicide Prevention Training {ASIST}
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience as a Youth Care Counsellor
